Top 3 Scenic Spots in Sydney Australia

Driving through Sydney offers some of the most spectacular coastal and city views in the world, but navigating the narrow streets and varied road surfaces of the CBD and Eastern Suburbs can be a challenge. For my latest adventure, I took the Geely EX5 Inspire out to find the best vantage points in the city.

Whether you are a local looking for a new sunset spot or a visitor wanting that perfect Opera House shot, here are my top 3 scenic views in Sydney.

1. Dudley Page Reserve (Dover Heights)

Our first stop was Dudley Page Reserve, located on the corner of Military Road and Lancaster Road. This is one of Sydney’s best-kept secrets for sunset. From this elevated position, you get a panoramic view of the entire city skyline, including the Sydney Tower, the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House.

Getting here from the city involves navigating through the busy, winding roads of the Eastern Suburbs. This is where the Geely EX5’s massive central display really shines. Having such a large, crisp screen for navigation made it incredibly easy to follow the prompts without having to squint at a tiny phone screen, ensuring I didn’t miss the turn-off for this quiet residential pocket.

2. Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair (Royal Botanic Garden)

No trip to Sydney is complete without a visit to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. Hand-carved by convicts in 1810 for Governor Macquarie’s wife, Elizabeth, this spot offers what many consider the “postcard” view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Driving into the heart of the Botanic Gardens means dealing with Sydney’s “mixed” road quality, think old bitumen, speed bumps, and far too frequent potholes. The Geely EX5, being an EV, provides a level of refinement that petrol cars struggle to match. The instant torque and silent motor made the stop-start city traffic feel effortless, and the suspension handled the uneven surfaces with impressive comfort.

3. Blues Point Reserve (North Sydney)

For our final stop, we headed across the bridge to Blues Point Reserve. This location puts you right at the foot of the Harbour Bridge, looking back toward the city and the Opera House from the north side. It is a fantastic place for a picnic or just to sit and watch the ferries go by.

Navigating across the bridge and into the tighter streets of North Sydney can be stressful, but the Heads-Up Display (HUD) in the Inspire grade kept my eyes exactly where they needed to be: on the road. The tech in the EX5 really takes the fatigue out of a long day of filming and driving.

Why the Geely EX5 is the Perfect Sydney Companion

After spending the day touring these iconic spots, a few things stood out:

  • Navigation Ease: The big screen isn’t just for show; it makes complex city intersections much easier to manage.
  • EV Comfort: The smooth, quiet ride of the EX5 makes “urban exploring” much more relaxing, especially on Sydney’s busier roads.
  • Driver Tech: Features like the massage seats and heated seating (perfect for a Sydney winter) meant I arrived at every scenic spot feeling refreshed rather than drained.
