VW Amarok Adds Dark Label V6 and Walkinshaw W600 for 2026

The next chapter of the Volkswagen Amarok in Australia has been revealed, with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles announcing a refreshed line-up for Model Year 2026.

The updates introduce two standout new models while simplifying the overall range, with a stronger focus on the powerful V6 diesel variants that have become a defining feature of the Amarok in Australia.

Leading the story are two hero editions. A limited-run Amarok Dark Label V6 and the Amarok W600, developed locally in partnership with Walkinshaw Automotive Group.

The changes reflect feedback from owners, dealers and enthusiasts who have helped shape Amarok’s reputation across Australia over the past 15 years.

Amarok Dark Label V6: Limited Edition Style

The new Amarok Dark Label V6 arrives as one of the most visually distinctive versions of the ute yet offered in Australia.

Limited to just 200 vehicles nationally, the Dark Label blends Amarok’s V6 diesel performance with a bold blacked-out design theme.

Key highlights include:

  • 20-inch Matte Black ‘Bendigo’ alloy wheels
  • IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights with black surrounds
  • Darkened tail lights
  • Powder-coated black sports bar
  • Black side steps, mirrors, rear bumper and door handles
  • Black X-design front bumper treatment
  • Black front skid plate
  • Matte black roof rails
  • Spray-in tub liner and black tonneau cover
  • Exclusive Dark Label graphics package

The result is a ute that leans heavily into the growing appetite among Australian buyers for premium-looking dual-cab trucks with strong visual presence.

Volkswagen says pricing and arrival timing for the Dark Label will be announced closer to launch.

Amarok W600: Walkinshaw Performance Returns

Joining Dark Label at the top of the Amarok story is the Amarok W600, a special edition engineered in collaboration with Walkinshaw Automotive Group.

Walkinshaw’s involvement brings Australian engineering expertise to the project, with the model designed to enhance the Amarok’s dynamic capability and performance characteristics for local conditions.

While full specifications are yet to be revealed, the W600 is positioned as a halo performance model for the Amarok range, building on Volkswagen’s successful partnership with Walkinshaw in previous projects.

More details on the W600 are expected later this year.

A Simpler Amarok Range

For 2026, Volkswagen has also streamlined the Amarok line-up to make the range easier to understand while emphasising the variants that resonate most strongly with Australian buyers.

The updated line-up includes:

All variants continue to feature 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

A Revised Petrol Amarok

Volkswagen has also introduced a revised petrol-powered Amarok variant.

The new Amarok Style TSI452 replaces the previous Aventura TSI452 and brings several upgrades including:

  • 4A permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive
  • Six selectable drive modes
  • Optional 20-inch Bendigo alloy wheels

The Bendigo wheel package, priced at $1,290, gives the petrol Amarok a wider, more muscular stance while enhancing its on-road dynamics.

Built for Amarok Fans

According to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Brand Director Nathan Johnson, the 2026 update is focused squarely on the buyers who have made Amarok a favourite in the Australian ute market.

The revised range highlights the qualities Amarok owners value most.

That includes:

  • Confident V6 performance
  • A premium interior feel
  • Distinctive styling
  • Amarok’s well-known steering precision and ride quality

With the addition of Dark Label and the Walkinshaw-developed W600, Volkswagen is positioning the Amarok as one of the most distinctive and driver-focused dual-cab utes available in Australia.
